Story of a trip to Asia without a return ticket
My name is Marcos Silva and I’m from Tarragona, Spain.
After completing my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, I decided to postpone my teaching exams for a year and travel around Asia. After exploring Thailand, Vietnam and Laos with some friends, I continued the journey on my own to Yunnan, China.
There, I spent a month living in a Buddhist temple with monks and, shortly afterwards, I had the opportunity to work as an extra in a Chinese TV series. These experiences sparked my interest in the country, so I started learning Chinese and eventually decided to stay and live there.
I spent six years in Yunnan and another year in Xiamen, studying Chinese, teaching English en private academies and travelling around China and other parts of Asia.
Over time, I started organising trips around Yunnan and working as a tour guide and trip coordinator, collaborating with local travel agencies.
This blog started as a way to keep a record of my travels and has since become a place where I share experiences, tips and travel ideas for discovering China, especially Yunnan.
