Below is the step-by-step itinerary for the 13-day trip through Yunnan. In total, it would be 12 nights and 13 days traveling through the Chinese province of Yunnan.
To visit Yunnan, we recommend flying into Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, or Hong Kong. Of course, we can also include and organize your trip to these cities, so you can stay for one or two days and take the opportunity to visit them.

Detailed Yunnan travel itinerary
Day 1: Kunming and the Stone Forest of Shilin
We start our Yunnan tour in China in Kunming, known as the “Spring City”. From here, we visit the incredible Shilin Stone Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Days 2 & 3: Yuanyang Rice Terraces
We travel to one of the most iconic landscapes in China: the Yuanyang rice terraces, shaped by the Hani ethnic group over 1,300 years ago.
We explore local villages and enjoy unforgettable sunrise and sunset viewpoints.

Day 4: Jianshui and the Double Dragon Bridge
We visit the famous Double Dragon Bridge and explore the historic old town of Jianshui, including the impressive Confucius Temple.
Day 5: Weishan, Living History of Yunnan
We continue our Yunnan journey to Weishan, a 600-year-old historic town. We climb Mount Weibao, an important Taoist sacred site.
Days 6 & 7: Dali and Erhai Lake
We explore Dali’s old town, one of the most beautiful cities in southern China. We walk through the old town and visit the famous Three Pagodas of Dali. One of those places that are a must-see during your trip to Yunnan.
Afterwards, you can choose to ride a bike around Erhai Lake or take a short boat trip, enjoying the stunning scenery of mountains and traditional fishing villages. Two nights in a charming hotel in Dali.
We also enjoy a scenic boat ride(or bike ride) on Erhai Lake, surrounded by mountains and traditional villages.

Day 8: Shibaoshan Mountain and Shaxi Village
We visit Shibaoshan Mountain, famous for its ancient Buddhist carvings, and Shaxi, a peaceful town on the historic Tea Horse Road and, nowdays, a peaceful rural village.
Days 9 & 10: Shangrila – Tibetan Culture and Nature
We head to Shangri-La, over 3,300 meters above sea level, a unique Tibetan cultural region and one of the highlights of this Yunnan tour in China.
We visit the Songzanlin Monastery and enjoy a free day in Shangri-La to explore the old town or go shopping

Days 11 & 12: Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lijiang
We travel through stunning landscapes to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest canyons in the world.
We end in Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage old town, where we explore Naxi culture and its ancient pictographic writing system.
Day 13: End of Trip and Return
